In this piece I wanted to create a sequence of scenes for a prospective high jewellery advert. To achieve this I focused on a white metal diamond eternity ring. all three scenes were created using a variety of Houdini simulation techniques and rendered with the built in Karma render engine.
For the opening shot, I wanted to create a dramatic but gradual reveal of the ring. To do this I used Houdini's vellum grain system to make a scene where a hand lifts the ring out of a black sand.
Using the brilliant colours of a nebula, this shot took inspiration for the background. Portraying how the fabulous materials used to craft the jewellery are just as dazzling as outer space. The motion of the ring rising from the hand was followed to create a visual link between scenes.
To end the sequence of shots, I created this slow decent shot onto the soft pillow of a jewellery box. This piece is meant to tie together the three parts with an elegant landing while also presenting the ring in a similar fashion to how it would be in reality.
